ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)

ABS is lightweight and has good impact strength; it is abrasion resistant and affordable. Moreover, ABS polymers withstand a lot of chemical formulas. The glass transition temperature of ABS plastic is 105°C (221°F), making it ideal for use in relatively safe machines that are easy to operate (the safety of household machines is important).

PLA (Polylactic Acid)

PLA is the most popular choice for many applications due to its ease of printing and low cost. A biodegradable thermoplastic made from corn starch, PLA is often used in non-functional prototyping applications where the part is used mainly for design verification. While not as durable and heat resistant as other thermoplastic materials, PLA has found wide use in FDM printing.
